Warm-Up (25 mins)

Organization:

1. 30 x 30 yard area

2. 12 players (8 Servers, 4 Receivers) set up as shown

3. 8 balls (Additional around the outside)

Instructions:

1. Players on the outside of the circle start with the ball

2. Players in the inside check in and get the ball

3. Receive, dribble throught the middle and pass to an open player

Coaching Points:

1. Check in at full speed

2. Receive on back foot

3. Weight of pass

4. Check shoulders

5. Positive first touch

Progressions:

1. P-Add pressure by adding defenders

Main-Theme1 (30 mins)

Organization:

30 x 40 yard area

4 pugs/ mini goals set up as shown

2, 5x5 grids set up as shown

12 players

Instructions:

1.The two sides must compete to see how many goals they can score .(Blue VS White)

2.Players A&B start in the center at oposite grids,

3.On coaches command they check to the grid closest to them, then check to the opposite grid to receive the ball (A will recieve from player 1, B will receive from player 2) take a first touch then shoot at the mini goal (1 touch before shot).

4.C&D also repeat the process on the oposite side as shown.

5. Each player repeats the process twice before they rotate, taking a good first touch & shooting with both the right and the Left foot.

6. The player in the corner who passes the ball must use the players checking movement as a visual que when to send the pass for good timing into the grid.

Coaching Points:

1) Checking movements

2) Change of pace when checking in to receive

3) Checking shoulders on aproach

4) Comunication to send the ball (hand signal)

5) Quality first touch to set for end product (shot)

6) Visual ques

Progressions:

P-Add in a defender in the middle for pressure to test the players are checking to create space away from the defender

P-Add a defender or GK who comes out from the goal after the players first touch to create a 1v1 to goal.

Conditined Game (30 mins)

Organization:

-35x35 yard grid

-2 teams of 6 split playing 4v4 with 2 target players

-4x 5 yard gates (2 blue, 2 red) opposite each other

Instructions:

Team scores point by passing to target player, when target player receives ball he comes into the 4v4 play with his 1st touch and the player who scored by passing ball to him takes his place inside the target gate.

Team must then try to score by playing into opposite target player. (Team can play back to target just come from but only as support player and not to gain point, unless they lose possesion of ball then regain it so the direction of play has been reset to neutral and they can play into either target player).

First team to x points wins

Coaching Points:

1) Can you receive ball and turn to face the target player which need to play to next to score point.

2) Receive on the half turn/back foot when possible.

3) Play to a team mates back foot when possible.

4) Check shoulder regularly to assess your situation (pressure/space/opportunities etc.)

5) Speed of play (can I play quick enough to immediately score upon receiving ball).

6) Mentality to always try to play towards your goal first.

7) Can I time my checks to receive ball in enough space to turn and score.

8) Quality of checks/passing/receiving on the turn.
