Reds (Coached team): 3-4-2-1w/o AM's, WB's

Blues (Opposition): 4-4-2 w/o WM's, FB's, GK

6v6 + Red GK

Problem 1:

Opposition high press lead by forwards

Solution 1:

Move the ball quickly and exploit the spaces created through or around

Problem 2:

Opposition sit deeper and wait for triggers to press

Solution 2:

Patient build up, centre backs switch play side to side to force a mistake and exploit the spaces left

Coaching points (Coached team):

Through, then around, then over

Half turn to receive, try and see 3 corner flags

Scanning before receiving

Safe foot vs back foot

Midfield rotations when available

CB plays in between 2 opposition strikers

Split passes

Play forward when possible, if forward is unavailable can players support for the next pass

Striker drifts to near side of centre circle to the ball

Furthest DM looks to exploit space between opposition CM and CB

Opposition management:

Remain compact, no more than 10 yards between lines

Force over or around

Return to starting positions within 3 seconds of any dead ball

Reference points:

GK middle of the 6 yard box

WCB's corner of the 6 yard box

CB edge of the D

DM's between the 6 and 18, maximum 10 yards in front of DM

ST centre circle, near side

Challenges (Team):

Can we look to play through as a priority?

Can we find the strikers feet early?

Can we look to break lines by carrying the ball?

Challenges (Individual):

Can the CB receive and find the strikers feet?

Can the GK communicate effectively to provide teammates with information?

Can the centre backs mix in direct passes into the striker or goals?

Conditions:

Play restarts from Red GK every possession

Blues must score in main within 5 seconds of winning possession

Targets:

Reds attacking mini goals

Blues attacking full size goal

Reds may also double their score by playing to the striker before scoring

Spare players:

Blue wide midfielders and red wing backs doing position specific work
