Animation 2 (15 mins)

Drill 1: Receiving & Passing Drill 10-12mins

  • Players line up on opposite side of field, add a marker so players know where to stand, and use as a barrier. Tell players that markers/cones are defenders and they must dribble in and out cones, make a good pass to player on opposite side and move away to open filed marker to receive and give back ball to running player moving down the line (1..2 pass or wall pass) as it is known. turns must be made away from the marker and NOT directly in front of it.
  • One side will have balls with the players,
  • Players with ball (P1) will pass player (P2), (make sure that you here communications between players), players (P2) receives ball, and pass ball back to (P1) who now moves to marker(cone). P1 receives ball from (P2), who is now running straight up the line, P1 passes ball to P2, P2 dribbles to opposite of field and gets back on line 1.
  • Players will follow the flow of ball pass and movement to rotate positions: P1 will move to position of P2, and P2 will move to P1 positions, as that all players will be working on passing, receiving, movement to create space, pass, run, receive and dribbling into space.
  • Note: the objective is that players run from one end of the field to the other, work on accurate passing, movement, receiving, dribbling and communication.

Drill 2- OBJECTIVE: working on motor skills, dribbling and shooting into goal. 10mins

Players line up in each corner and must complete obstacle task correctly before getting a ball. One side (corner) will have rings, which players must skip one leg right and next time skip 1 leg left, within the 2 rings. Player can then get a ball and dribble to oppisite goal and score. Player will return to opposite corner and now zig-zag in and out the cones, get a ball, dribble and try to shoot on goal to score. Player will go to opposite corner with cones and zig-zag now going backwards, turn and get ball, dribble and shoot. Player moves to next corner and skips on 1 leg left in the rings, get ball and zig-zag, dribble and try to score.

NOTE: some players (based on age and motor-skill development) may find it difficult to skip/hop on 1 leg or go backwards. If so have them take their time and move slowly until comfortable, and or hop on both feet in/out the rings.

Scrimmage with 1v1 scenarios (15 mins)

Drill3- Open Game - Scrimmage OBJECTIVE:  small side games max 5v5

working on motor skills, dribbling, passing and shooting into goal. 12-15mins

  • Players are set up in teams and line up in opposite sides. Based on age levels, we will start with equal amounts of players and 1 set of balls for each 2 players per team: For example 4 v 4 players, and 4 balls on field. The goal will be to have 1v1 scenarios and have players challenge each other for ball possession and scoring for their team.
  • remove a ball every 2mins so that play can be now 2v2, 2v1, etc.... until only one ball and players  are now trying to work together and score into opposite goals.
  • As you remove peoples explain that players should try to work together, spread out,  and pass the ball to their teammate, so not to bunch up and give each other space to receive and pass the ball, and take shoot on goal.

NOTE: some players (based on age and emotional? social development) may find it difficult to understanding competing for ball and trying challenge each other. So it may be necessary that a coach or 1 of the parents first play 1v1 with player to understand.  After try to have them play against another child of equal age and skill development.

Drill 5- Open Game - Scrimmage OBJECTIVE:  small side games max 4v4, 5v,5, or 6v6

working on motor skills, dribbling, passing and shooting into goal. 12-15mins

Players are set up in teams and play regular free play.  Based on age levels, we will start with, for example 4 v 4 players, 5v5..etc and 4 balls on field. The goal will be to have space for players to move and create 1v1 scenarios and passing ball to their teammates.

Before starting game go over the objects, *rules and what you are expecting players to do as a team; not just as an individual player.  As team: incorporate what was done in training practice. Dribble when there is space to do saw, pick up your head, opening up to create space for themselves so to receive the ball, pass the ball to their teammates, and communicate with each other; Most importantly don't give up and have FUN!

** Let teams play and provide feedback as needed, or if you stop game every 5-8mins to give a quick LEARNING/ TEACHING MOMENT water break.

NOTE:some players (based on age and emotional? social development) may find it difficult to understanding competing for ball and trying challenge each other. So it may be necessary that a coach or 1 of the parents first play 1v1 with player to understand.  After try to have them play against another child of equal age and skill development  levels.
