Warm Up10 mins

Description :

> 40x40 area.

> into pairs.

> 1 ball between pair.

> attacking partner with ball must dribble towards defending partner, always looking to take lots of touchers & change direction of ball.

> defending partner must not tackle attacking player but should jockey/shuffle backwards to create a game like situation.

> both players looking to move feet quickly to adjust body positioning.

Progression :

> attacking player must always keep head up to see where defender is.

> small touches on the ball to ensure we have total control of the ball.

> look to dribble with both feet & shift body weight to trick defender.

> try to use every part of both feet.

Can we dribble with pace?

Can we get the defender shuffling back quickly?

Why should we drop shoulder & shift body weight?

Why do small touches allow us to be in control?

What pace should we dribble at?

Activity 110 mins

Description :

> 40x40 channel.

> attackers v defenders.

> 2v2.

> attackers must look to take on their defenders & dribble across the end line.

> attackers can look to isolate their defender which will create a 1v1 situation.

> if successful & 2nd defender commits then we have created a 2v1 situation.

Progression :

> look to commit defender & isolate him.

> teammate should look to move off ball as this will create space.

> dribble with pace when moving into space.

> body movement useful to help us trick defender, look to drop shoulder & burst away with pace.

Can we dribble with pace & purpose?

Can we commit defenders?

Why should we move into new space if we dont have the ball?

What should we do if defender is pressing us high?

Do we need to go forward all the time?

Where should we look to drag defenders?

Activity 210 mins

Description :

> 40x40 area.

> if the defenders win the ball back then they can dribble through one of the 2 gates at the other end.

Progression :

> if the attackers are getting success then you can take away one of the goals to make it harder.

> look to commit defender & isolate him.

> teammate should look to move off ball as this will create space.

> dribble with pace when moving into space.

> body movement useful to help us trick defender, look to drop shoulder & burst away with pace.

Can we finish with a goal when we get past defenders?

Can we dribble with pace & purpose?

Can we commit defenders?

Why should we move into new space if we dont have the ball?

What should we do if defender is pressing us high?

Do we need to go forward all the time?

Where should we look to drag defenders?
