Description

Session is used to build confidence in 1v1 scenarios, specifically using dribbling to attack open space in multiple directions.

Players should be encouraged to be brave and understand that mistakes will happen and it is ok. They should also be encouraged to work hard when they do not have the ball (defending or when they lose it) to win it back.

Questions- How can we get the defender off balance without touching the ball? How can we get the defender off balance by touching the ball? How can I open up space for myself?

Answers- I can move my center body line to one side by getting low, then go the other way fast. I can take small quick touches to a space, then a big touch the opposite way with speed. I can attack the space that I do not want to go to, before attacking the space I do want to go to.

1v1 To Backwards Goal (20 mins)

Play 1v1 to 2 backward pug goals with a dividing line.

Game starts with attacker facing defender, attacker can score in either goal, defender cannot cross the red line (you can allow the defender to cross the red line after x seconds, you an also extend the red line to make it less challenging). If the defender wins the ball, the attacker scores, or the ball goes out of play the two players switch roles.

1v1 To End Zone with Pugs (25 mins)

Play 1v1 to End zones with 2 pug goals

Play will always start at midfield. Attacking player can score in either goal, but must dribble into the end zone before scoring. After a goal is scored or the ball goes out of bounds, play restarts at the middle. If defender wins the ball, they become the attacker and can score in either goal.
