Small-Sided Game: Area: (40x60yrd)- Formation: 5v5 including GK.- Players will play an SSG in a 5v5 format (GK, 1 player in the back, 1 on either side, and 1 player up top).- Depending on the number of players available and the age group of the session, it can progress to 7v7 with a 2-3-1 formation.- Things to consider: Recognizing the right moment to pass and the right moment to dribble. Encourage players to perform skills in 1v1 situations. When coming out of the back first option to pass in a 5v5 format, is to the players on the side and the second option is finding the striker. In a 7v7 format, the first option is to find the players on the side, the second option is to find the other player in the back and the last option is to find the striker.- Focus on attacking and defending principles of play.- Attacking principles of play: Width, depth, Penetration, Creativity, Support, and Transition.- Defending principles of play: Compactness, Delay, and Balance
