Goal/Objective: The main objective in this session is train players how to properly change direction when dribbling using various skill moves and then accelerating when moving past the defender.
Team Tactical Principle: Exploiting 1v1 situations and beating the defender
Skill Move: Ronaldo Chop, Cruyff Turn, Using Outside/Inside of the foot to turn, cut backs
Coaching Points: Turning our body to execute the turn, accelerating past the defender
Who - All players/all positions
What - We are trying to teach players that not every movement has to be straight, but we can turn our body and change directions to beat our defender in a 1v1
Where - Anywhere on the pitch
When - When we are in possession of the ball and looking to go towards goal
Why - It is crucial to learn how to beat a defender and change direction away from pressure

In the second part of Stage 1, the attackers (in red) will look to stay away from the defenders (blue) by either dribbling past them or change direction away from them. Emphasize players can only use the moves they learned in the previous part of the session. Once the red players beat the defender they need to accelerate pass them.
To make the game competitive, everyone will get a turn as a defender, and the top two defenders who defended/stole/kicked away the most balls can be captains in the final stage (scrimmage). Play 3-4 games around 2 minutes each.

In this next stage, is a 3 goal game focus on 1v1s. The attackers (blue) will receive a pass from the defenders (red) and compete in a 1v1. The blue team can be awarded 1pt by performing a move they just learned and dribbling through the side gates. The blue team can be awarded 5pts by performing a move they just learned, beat the defender/accelerate past them and score on the mini goal. If the defender wins the ball they can can get 1pt by dribbling through the gate on the opposite end.
- Must emphasize that in order to get a point they must perform one of the moves and then go towards one of the goals.
- If you have 12 players, form 6 teams of 2 and rotate among the four teams. Make sure everyone defends 3x and attacks 3x. 3-4min games.
- Keep track of points and the team with the most points get to be the two other captains in the scrimmage.
Progression: if it gets too easy for the attacking players, then remove the goals on the side and play 1v1. Give extra points if players perform a move we taught and then score.

In the final stage, form 4 teams of 3 players on each team. Make sure you enforce the build-out line and play with corners and sweeper keepers. Players should not be standing in goal as his two teammates attack. Play 3 games all 5 minutes each. There should be one sweeper keeper in each team along with two players out wide.
In the scrimmage, encourage players to use the skills they were just working on in the scrimmage. Give bonus points, such as scoring after a Ronaldo chop is worth 2 goals. Give an "MVP" of the practice to the player who performed the most moves during the scrimmage.

Stage 1.1 - Learning the Skill (10 mins)
In the first stage implement the Ronaldo Chop, Cruyff Turn, Using Outside/Inside of the foot to turn, and cut backs. Spend about 2-3 minutes for each move. The flags will demonstrate defenders and the players should look to dribble towards the flag and perform the move. Once the perform they should accelerate past the flag. Also have an emphasis on make sure the player keeps their head so they do not run into each other.
To keep the players, engaged, have them count how many moves they can perform in a 1 minute time span going towards each flag. The winners can be defenders in the next round.
