Skills Activity 1/Main Phase (15 mins)
Organization:
- Area approx. cones 8-10 yards apart
- Working in pairs on tehncial fundamentals & to maximize touches and individaul ball contacts
- 1 Ball per player
- Players will work through a series of ball mastery, change of direction moves, 1v1 moves
Insturctions:
- 2 players start at same cone with a ball each
Ball Mastery
A) Laces - both feet (little touches, toe down/heel up)
B) Inisde Touches - (using big toe touching ball from left to right and right to left)
C) Toe Taps moving Forward
D) Sole roll - uisng the bottom of you R/L foot roll the ball
E) Inside - Outside Touches (R/L Foot)
F) Outside Touches
Change of Direction Moves:
- P1 will dribble to middle cone and then perform a change of direction move before changing speed and dribbling to the the far cone. As soon as P1 reaches the middle cone P2 will go. Sequence repeats from other side.
A) Fake & Take - (Dip shoulder)
B) Single Scissor move
C) Double Scissor
Coaching Points:
- Ball close to body
- Head-up (awareness)
- Body Shape (Knees bent/low to ground)
- Change of direction
- Touch out of feet after move (Big Touch)
- Change Speed
- Control

Dribbling SSG (15 minutes)
Organization:
- 4v4/5v5 to 2 goals - Add a retreat line to allow players to build up and receive free pass
Variations/Progressions:
- Man to man marking
- Players may not pass the ball forward - they can pass back or to the sides
- Add 2 balls
- Take out retreat line
- Award extra points for a players doing a move and getting behind defender
Coaching Points:
- Close dribling in tight spaces
- First touch
- Head up to scan space, defender & goal,
- Creativity/Have ideas (know what your going to do when you get the ball)

Organization:
- All players
- 1 ball per player
- Half of a Quarter field
- Cone out the area or use the enitre half of the quarter
Instructions:
- Players dribble throughout the area completing different commands from the coach
- 1000 touch rule
A) All parts of both feet
B) Left foot only, Right foot only,
C) Coach shouts 'stop' - Players have to stop the ball
D) Coach shouts 'Stop' - Players move back and then forward to the ball and continue dribbling
E) Toe Drags (bringing ball across the body using toe part of the sole)
F)) Inside Touches (using big toe touch the ball from left to right and right to left)
G) Inside - Outside (R/L Foot)
H) Toe Taps Stationary, Toe Taps moving forward
I) Players stopped with ball - Push Right - Drag back Right
J) Players stopped with ball - Push Left - Drag back left
K) Coaches come in - Apply passive pressure & the players push the ball right or left past coach
Coaching Points:
- Ball close to body (Don't chase the ball)
- Head-up
- Body Shape (Bend knees)
- Looking for open space to dribble into
- Awareness of sapce/players around them
- Change of direction/change of speed
- Encourage creativity
