Two teams, set up as shown. Shooting lines 5 yds apart, add as many as needed given player age and ability to shoot from distance. Enough balls on the shooting line for each player to have two shots.
Instructions:
- Shooting starts at the furthest line.
- One player at a time takes a shot, after the first player shoots the second player is allowed to shoot right away. Proceed until all players have two shots.
- Once all shots are taken the defending team has 30 seconds to retrieve all the balls and set them up on the same line, any balls not set up are not allowed to be used for that round of shooting.
- After both teams go move up to the next line and repeat.
- For each line of shooting the defending team chooses one GK. Alternate GKs for each line.
- Each goal = 1 point.
Coaching Points:
- As you get closer, shift focus from driving the ball (power) to accuracy (placement).
- Head up to observe GK's positioning, shoot quickly to take advantage of GK being out of position from previous shot.
Progressions:
- Shooters line up to the left for left-footed shots.
- Increase distance of cones.
