In the session I aim to improve the team’s ability to attempt to win the ball back immediately after losing it
5w's
What: When we lose the ball in , our heads drop and we take too long to reorg into our BPO positions
Who: Our 1-5, 6, 8 & 10 there 6-11
Where: Defensive half
When: In transition from BP to BPO
Why: If we can attempt to win the ball immediately, it will deny the opposition time and space to build up an attack.
Main Moment: BP>BPO

Setup:
Field Size: 2 x 20 x 40 grids which are split into 2 20x20 zones.
Players: 16
Equipment: 20 balls
Explanation:
Coach serves a ball into a blue player in team 1.
Play 4v3 in zone 1 with the extra player waiting to receive the ball in zone 2.
Blue players in zone 1 attempt to keep possession.
If the red team win the ball, they need to try and pass the ball to the player in zone 2. All 3 players from the red team then transition to zone 2 and also 3 players from the blue team.
If the ball goes out of play, play is restarted with the opposite team.
If a team loses possession, they are to try and win the ball back as soon as possible.
Scoring Method:
1 point for every transition from 1 zone to the other.
1 point for every 10 successful passes made.
1 point if a team loses the ball, but wins the ball back before the pass to the opposite zone is made.
Team Task:
When you lose the ball, apply immediate pressure on the ball carrier.

Setup:
Field Size: Half Field
Players: 16
Equipment: 20 balls, 1 full size goal
Explanation:
Ball always starts with a goal kick. The blue team must attempt to play the ball out from the back and find 1 of the target men. As soon as the ball is played into 1 of the target men, possession changes over to the red team, who are attacking the Full size goal. Blue team must attempt to close down and win the ball back as quickly as possible. The target man who receives the ball, becomes an attacking full back for the red team.
If the Blue team fail to find 1 of their target men whilst playing out from the back, they are also to try and win the ball back immediatley.
When the red team gain possession of the ball, they are to make quick forward passes and attempt to score. They have a maximum of 10 seconds to take a shot on goal.
Scoring Method:
Blue - 1 point for a successful pass into the target man. 1 point for winning the ball within 10 seconds off reds.
Red - 1 point for scoring a goal.
