Organization:
1. Place 6 pairs of cones 1 yard/metre apart randomly throughout the area to make ‘gates’.
2. Players must work in pairs (or 3s) and each pair must start the practice from a central position on
1 of the 4 sides of the pitch (see diagram). 1 ball per pair.
3. The aim of the practice is for a player from each pair to dribble around the area from gate to
gate. Upon going through a gate the player must complete a quick turn back through the gate before dribbling to another gate.
4. Once the player has completed 5 turns he must play the ball to his teammate waiting on the side of the pitch.
Progression:
Add 1 defender to the practice who just has to get a touch on the ball to score a point. He is allowed to
challenge any player with a ball.
Coaching Points:
Different types of turns, close control, awareness of what is around you, accelerate away fromn defender/gate

Organization:
Put 2 mini goals or targets at each end.
2 teams of 4/5 players (4v4) with a “magic-man” or floater to be used by the team in possession, if numbers are odd. 1 ball is in play. If the ball goes out of play players must ‘pass or dribble in’, no corners.
Coaching Points:
Using turns to get away from opponents, body position to receive the ball, spread out when in posession, quick decisions, lots of communication

Warm-up (20 mins)
Organization:
1. Split the pitch into two 10x20 areas. Each area has a starting a point, a cone to turn around at the opposite end and 3 cones to dribble through on the way back to the start (see diagram).
2. Divide the players into 2 teams with each team waiting at their start point. Each player has a ball.
3. Player by player each team must dribble to the far end of the pitch before turning back and
dribbling through the slalom (cones) on the way back to the start.
Progression:
1. As before, each player dribbles towards the far end of the pitch. However this time, upon reaching the halfway point each player must turn sharply and play the ball back to waiting teammate. Use 1 ball per team.
2. Like P1 but now start 2 players from the halfway point as well as the 2 from the original start point. All 4 dribble simultaneously before turning and playing to the teammate waiting. After playing the ball back from the end of the pitch, each player must travel back through the slalom doing little side steps.
Coaching Points:
Turn quickly, close control, body shape low, bend knees, ready to receive
