Title: 8v7 pressing from the front - GK targets (6:35 - 6:55)
Aim: Put players in a setting in the final third where everyones responsibilities in the press are clearly defined within a 3-5-2 against a 4-3-3
Organization: Players play 8v7. GK's hands are the teams target (directional game) 2X8 minute games. Ball always starts with attacking team's GK.
Plan for failure / coaching points:
6:40 natural stoppage - weak side 9 fail to sprint to the GK - discuss importance of why we do this every time.
6:45 - in the flow - 2/3 will fail to read the cues of the opponents 4/5 and will fail to get to their opposite number quick off and cut off the channel, discuss their direction of the hips / shoulders, is their head down?
6:50 - freeze when it occurs - 6/8 will fail to slide over if wingback is beaten 1v1 - discuss how we fix this situation.
