Part 1 (60 mins)

Organisation:

2 Goalkeepers

6 Outfield Players (2 defenders)

10 Footballs

Progressions:

1. Server plays to attacker who must dribble around the GK to score

2. Server plays to attacker who now has 6 seconds to score a goal

3. Once ball has been played to attacker, the defender is allowed to recover

4. Opposite defender now recovers to change the angle of recovery run

Key Points:

1. Start Position in relation to the ball - front foot (closest foot)

2. Assessment of through ball/attackers first touch to decide whether to approach attacker or defend goal

3. Put pressure on the attacker - be patient and only move once ball is played out of attackers feet

4. Delay attacker by staying low & big - force into wide areas

5. How to smother/dive at feet/block

6. Communication with recovering defender
