Low numbers turning up this week.
Keep the focu on the defensive principles, but start to look at transitions - out of possession, winning the ball & in possession, losng the ball
See the guidance at the top of this page to understand why you are not seeing interactive Football/Soccer images.
General notes:
Defending Block - minimal show of players - 6 only. Focus on delay / deny - start to incorporate transition
Aims and objectives:
How quickly can defender get to the attacker, delay the attacker and keep him in the top third.Use the skills from previous sessions, run fast, slow down, side on, weight on back foot, don't stop too close to the ball. if the attacker gets passed the defender he / she scores by stopping the ball on the line. If he/she scores they must leave the ball on the line and run to the cone behind the line, then try and run back as quickly as possible to try and defend. Other player gets the ball and tries to counter quickly.
Organisation and setup:
Use previous setup but move cones on the end lines back 2 yards. Reset from one side 5 times, then switch play
Coaching factors and outcomes:
Defenders close down the attacker as quickly as possible, getting into shape quick, Bend legs, low centre of gravity and in the correct shape and be active on their toes so they can move quickly.
If the attacker scores, how quickly can they get back to try and defend
Adaption:
-change to 2v1 - one player locked into defensive third. When attacker scores or loses possession can the defender delay whilst his friend runs back to help
Coaching points#1
- Close down the attacker quickly
- Get into correct shape
- Do not dive in - delay for as long as possible
Coaching points#2
- How quickly can the defender counter if they win the ball
- How quickly can the attacker transition and run back and defend

General notes:
Minimal show of players - 6 only. Focus 'Out of Possession' -on delay / deny - start to incorporate transition
Aims and objectives:
play 3v3 Futsl rules with futsal ball. Focus on defending, hold, delay - but try and encourage transition and fast counters.
Organisation and setup:
Small pitch 15 yards by 30 yards, small goals at either end with a box of 3yards by 3 yards. No goalkeepers and no one allowed in the box. Use full futsal rules, but if a player goes into the box the other team get a goal.
Can only shoot in opposition half
Coaching factors and outcomes:
How quickly can defenders close down the opposition
Can the defending team cut out passing lines
Can they man to man mark???
When the lose the ball, can they run back as a team to defend
When they win the ball, can they attack fast to create overloads

Transition corridor (15 mins)
General notes:
Minimal show of players - 6 only - maximise ball time
Aims and objectives:
Arrival activity, transition corridor. Simple setup to maximise ball time
Organisation and setup:
Create 3 dribbling lines by putting two cones / flat markers 10yards apart. Create thirds by using flat markers. Put the players into 3 pairs, one at either end of the dribbling line. Players have to RWB to the top third, pass to their friend - turn and run back to their starting cone. The receiving player has to control the ball and start to RWB to the top third and then pass to their friend - turn and run back to their starting cone. Repeat.
Coaching factors and outcomes:
As an arrival activity let them all play for 10 mins until everyone has arrived, watch what they do and how they do it, but let them play. Bring them in and discuss the coaching factors from the previous sessions. When is the best time to delay? When is the best time to tackle? Can the defenders steal the ball, and counter quickly? Look at body position, side on, weight onto back foot, delay and wait for the attacker to make a mistake. Can they show them to the touch line - put these into terms they can understand.
Adaption:
Add gates that they must dribble or pass through
Once they are familiar, can this be a race
Add cones they must dribble through
Add cones they must 'move' through using different techniques - side steps, hop, skip
Must run backward to start cone
Coaching points#1
- close control of ball
- pass the ball with the side of the foot
- run back to the start as quickly as possible
- Control the ball positively to start counter attack quickly
