Objective: To encourage creativity and recognition of space openings to break lines.
Organization: 25Wx40L, 12 players minimum, 14 cones, 6 orange bibs, 6 yellow bibs, 8 balls.
Conditions of play: Ball starts with the central player who dribbles in through the end zone, it then creates a 3v3 with the objective being the team in possession is trying to work the ball into the end zone by any means necessary (dribble or pass) to penetrate. When the ball has been possessed in the end zone, the player in the end zone must run to the nearest cone, while the next group of 3 enters (from the team that's just been scored on) with a new ball. If the ball exits the square (via team orange) both teams exit and team yellow bring the ball in a new 3v3.
Key factors for application: Encouraging players to be direct and take responsibility. High intensity transitions, Defensive principles (pressure, cover, balance) & Aggression in winning the first ball.

Organization: 60Wx55L, 18 players.
Conditions of play: Ball starts with GK, 4/5 or 6 behind defending 9. Red team trying to either pass or get the ball over half way to score a point or score into the mini goal. Defending team wins the ball to go to goal to score.
Coaching points:
9 screening the 6 off until a 'trigger' to engage in the press is clear (negative pass, poor touch, poor set position, lack of depth in attacking build up). weakside midfielder steps into the open space to force the ball outside. 7/11 allows the full back to stay in front, with weakside stepping into the space between the 6, weakside CB and weakside FB to able to engage quickly if they are able to switch out. Strong side FB gets tight to winger for the long ball. trying to force the ball long or into the shaded space for the CM's to step in and engage.

If first line is broken, getting lines compact and closest midfielder pressuring the ball to allow 9 to recover in and to force the ball into our numerical superiority. Winger tracks the FB, weakside winger tucks in to add the central press. Shutting off the shaded space. One midfielder screens the ball forward off, 1 supports the pressure, 1 puts the pressure on. weakside FB tucks inside to force ball outside not inside.
