Two teams, one team starts with the ball.
The objective of the game is for your team to have more balls than the other team when time runs out (Play 30 second rounds, adjust accordingly).
Attackers should be encouraged to shield the ball (review shielding) from their opponent and defenders will try to win the ball back. Teams can use different strategies to win the ball back, such as sending two defenders to pressure the ball or forcing the attacking players to a certain area.
Safety
Ensure players are not fouling the attacking player to win the ball back (good coaching points here), or sliding.

- Three goals, one with a GK, the other two unoccupied.
- Defenders have eight starting points to choose to position themselves, coming into play when the attackers play the ball.
- The big goal is worth 3 points if scored in, the other two are worth 1 point. Defenders receive 3 points if they score.
- Attackers start with the ball, playing out from the starting point. Each attacker has to touch the ball before attempting to shoot.
- If defenders win the ball, they can pass or dribble into the side goals, using the GK if needed.
- If the attackers win the ball back, they can attack the main goal.
- Play is stopped when the ball is out of play.
Progression
- Change the point system
- Remove the side goals, to make it more game realistic
- Have defenders 1 & 2 active straight away, but defender 3 waits so many seconds before looking to recover and defend, forced to delay & deny.
- Add an extra attacker to cause a bigger overload and an extra challenge for the defenders.

Set up a 5v5 or 6v6 game dependent on the amount of players available (may need a neutral or coach in net).
Let the boys play but make sure they focus on the theme of the session. Encourage players to stick to their shape and use the defensive skills we've worked on in the session.

Ball Manipulation (15 mins)
Ball Manipulation
- Each player with a ball
- Grid spaced depending on numbers of players. Ensure the space forces players to play close enough to one another to ensure decision making while moving in the space.
- Have players start with various dribbling techniques:
- Inside and outside
- Toe Taps
- Foundation
- Dragging the ball with the sole of the foot
Introduce numbers to go with a skill:
1. Fake Take
2. Fake Fake Take
3. Circle Take
4. Circle Circle Take
5. Fake Circle Take
6. Circle Fake Take
7. Step Fake Take
8. Step Circle Take
9. Okocha
10. Snake/Elastico
* Have players talk to their feet and call out the skill when the coach calls the number (E.g. Coach says, "1!" Player says, "Fake Take!" completes skill and continues to dribble).
