Adaptations (Progressions & Regressions):

8v9 Central pressing team training,

Blue team in a 144Diamond v Red Team 242,

Working with the red team in a deconstructed 442, without full backs and goalkeeper,

65x50m,

MD-3 or -4,

3x5 minute blocks with 90 seconds in between for coaching intervention through Walkthrough on the pitch and tactics board before the session,

Blue team must try to find any of the three mini goals from anywhere on the pitch, red team will try to win the ball back and score into the big goal.

Block 1;

Ball starts with blue GK as a goal kick,

Coaching position near out front pressing line,

Coaching points;

When the ball enters 2 or 4 can we leave the far side and crunch the pitch,

Man to man pressure but leave the goalkeeper and far side FB,

Ball side cb to jump onto their 10, weak side cover,

Instant forward pass on transition,

Block 2;

Ball starts with blue CB and we make adjustments off of that,

We are still high pressing

Coaching position close to our back line to feel the distances

Coaching points;

If they play backwards then can we press the keeper smartly, using cover shadow to block passing lanes,

CB pick time to jump into their midfield, when they can't find the player easily and space behind isnt too big,

Find weak side winger on transition with diagonal pass,

Half space disrupt run from 9

Block 3;

Ball can start anywhere but normally from the coach into back 4 or gk of the blues,

We are deeper and only high pressing on a trigger, backwards pass etc,

Coaching position varied

Coaching points;

Protect the middle and force outside into their fb,

Crunch the pitch,

Less man to man and more zonal pressure when we're deeper,

If we can't go to goal on transition, can we make passes and take time to get into attacking structure
