FIFA 11 Warm up + Hip Mobility

Setup: 6x30 yards (25 min)

Instructions:

FIFA 11 Warm-Up - Each exercise is ran 2x

Activity Out | Activity Back

1) Jog | Back Pedal

2) 3 Squats at Each Cone | Side Shuffle

3) Linear Hops | Crossover Runs (Carioca)

4) Hip In | Hip Out

5) Plank (1 min.) & Sideways Plank (30 seconds each side)

6) Linear Hop Stick | Active Hamstring Stretch

7) Diagonal Hop Stick | Quad Stretch

8) Shuffle Around | Glute Heel Knee Up Stretch

9) Glute Bridges (3 sets of 10)

10) Header Jump | SL Toe Touch/Superman

11) 3 Step Diagonal Plant and Cut | Toy Soldiers

12) Skips for Height | 75%

13) Skips for Distance | 100%

4v2 Penetration Rondo (20 mins)

4v2 Penetration Rondo: Directional small-sided possession, 8x8 yards with 2-yard gap between (25 min. w/ dynamic, 2 rondo rounds only)

- 4v2 to penetration pass... penetrate whenever possible without risking possession

- Extra defender starts just defending MF on his back so he can't turn blind

- Longest man in gets out

- Progress to where extra defender can cut out penetration pass

Objectives:

1) Scan, move and use the space properly.

2) Execute technically.

3) Find numerical advantages.

Coaching Points:

- Scan! As you move peek to see the opposite side

- Emphasis on good positional movements, back pedal/adjust, always being available in a passing lane

- Good, open body position to play in either direction, allow ball to come across body to front foot whenever possible

- If you have to sprint, last step should open you up

- If you must play back in 1-touch, peek the other way to scan the field immediately after playing back

- Play to target objective players whenever possible without risking possession!

- One support short while the other supports longer for the split to the extra man.

4v4+3 (25 mins)

4v4+3 Possession to Keep and Progress the Ball: 16 x 24 yds. (20-25 min.)

- 4v4+1 in the middle with a target on each end

- 3 touches in the middle to start

- 10 passes = 1 point, directional points = 3 points (can add 1-touch off target to score)

- Progress to 2-touch max or 1-touch/2-touch

- Three or Four 4-minute rounds

- All rounds are competitive for short shuttles, burpees, pushups, etc.

Objectives: 

1) Use the space properly and move properly

2) Execute technically

3) Recognize numerical advantage to maintain possession

Coaching Points:

- Scan!

- Use the space properly: Leave central area open! Why?... Space to play and forces defenders into making a decision

- Move away from ball to create space, then to it in the proper moments

- Move to draw defenders where you want them to go, then exploit space they give you

- Be active and move with proper body position and TIMING to keep the ball

- Be in most advanced position possible while still available

- Communicate with eye contact, talking, and hand gestures

- Pace of pass matters in tactical decision

- Choose the proper times to keep the ball and proper times to break lines: What are the numbers? 4v3 means 4v1 on other side!

7v7 to Goal (35 mins)

7v7 to Goal: First Day (30-40 min.) 40w x 40L yards

- 3 teams

- Games to 2, or 5 minutes

- Winners stay on, losing team is off doing fitness

Coaching Points:

- Compete with a cool head and stay switched on!

- Trust and support your teammates, no matter what!

- Communicate when defending and use certain terminology: I go, I got cover, Name, Instruction!

- Transition immediately! Urgent in transition, counterpress whenever possible

- Defend together: If pressing, fully commit as a group.

- Defend your box with intensity and physicality
