Spotlight Activity - 40x30yd area
- 2 groups working on same pattern simultaneously in different directions
- Players follow their ball to rotate
- Switch sides following their shot
Pattern 1:
- Player (a) passes ball into central player (b)
- (b) receives with open body and a forward touch then passes to (c)
- (c) receives with body open to goal and dribbles in to shot
Pattern 2:
- Player (a) passes ball into central player (b)
- (b) receives with open body and a forward first touch then passes to (c)
- (c) receives facing (b) and plays ball back to (b)
- (b) receives open to the attack and plays ball into attacking space for (c)
- (c) receives on the run and finishes witht he 2nd touch

Pattern 3:
- Player (a) passes ball into (b)
- (b) receives body open to (c) and passes to (c) then drops with open body shape to (d)
- (c) plays ball back to (b) who open body up to switch the attack and passes into space for (d)
- (d) makes a diagnol run into attacking space and takes a shot on the first touch
Coaching Points: Crisp, quality passing; open body shape to the attack; verbal and non-verbal communication; finishing off the final pass

Spotlight Game - 40x60yd area with goals and keepers (end zones 40x15yd)

- Each team attacks one goal and defends the other
- Players play possession in central area looking to create an opportunity to play into end zone
- Once final pass is made into attacking zone; 2 attackers can enter and 1 defender
- Attacker should look to finish quickly
Progression: final pass must be 1st time pass or limit all players to 1 or 2 touch play
Coaching Points: Body position when receiving a pass or making run, awareness, decision making in attack, final (killer) pass
