25 mins
Set Up: Move goals to top of the 18yd, narrow the width of the field by 5 yards on each side
Rule(s):
- Defending team wants to be in a mid-block
- Attacking team will try score in big goal w/ emphasis of playing the ball behind the backline
Duration: 3x5min; Rest of 1-2min
Coaching Points/Concepts for defending team:
- Look to set traps and invite the pass into midfield 3
- If pass is made, be ready to win it back
- Force BSU into 2 of 3 channels of the field (deny the ability to play the weak side)
- 7 & 11 can we keep BSU fullbacks in front of us
- NNU 9, can we force BSU to one side of the field and be ready to press their CB when they drive
- NNU 9, look for moments to back press
- Back 4, anticipate the long ball, when to drop off vs when to step
- Midfield, when ball is played long, we must drop quickly as well to win 2nd balls and keep lines tight
- If NNU 9 is "eliminated" from play by BSU CB, then one of NNU midfield 3 steps to apply pressu and weak side 7 or 11 tucks in to help mark midfield
