In this activity players will focus on keeping attacking momentum and utilizing numerical advantage in attacking situations.

Join the attack to create 2v1/3v2 20 mins

Session Organization:

  • Create a field 50y by 30y
  • 4 x 4.5min
  • Play 6v6 with neutral in the middle part of the field, in each end there will be 1v1
  • Teams can attack in either direction
  • Players in the middle will try to get to x number of passes, then play into one of the endzones. The player that passed it in, will then follow and create a 2v1 situation.
  • Progression:

    • Create 3v2 situation, by having one defender follow the play into the endzone, and one attacker making a third player run

Coaching Points:

  • Join the attack - When our pass is made forward, keep the momentum and join the attack as a unit
  • Attacking overload - When attacking, players are trying to create numbers up situations, such as 2v1 and 3v2

  • Victim Runs - When marked, make a run to drag a defender away - This can create space for the ball carrier or a teammate to make a run to exploit the space you have created.
