Organisation (Practice Layout & Transition)

Screen 1

X2 20x20 yds Square coned Area's

Screen 1

Cone out area 20 x 20 with 6 players (3 in each team). One player (player 2 ) starts in the middle of the square box and the two other teammates player 1 and player 3 either side on the outside of the box with 1 ball between them.

Unopposed the player 1 passes in to the player 2 in the middle of the box who receives the pass and passes out to player 3 the other side of the box.

Player 2 rotates to player 1 position.

Player 3 passes in to player 2 Position inside the box he then passes out to Player 1 player 2 rotates out to player 3.

Screen 2

Setup a 15 x 15 yard area with 4 players on the outside and 1 player in the middle. Also have two defenders in the middle of the area who have to try and intercept passes across the area or tackle the middle player who is working with the outside players to keep the ball.

The possession team score a point each time: If the 2 defenders win the ball back, they play 2 v 1 against the inside attacker and every pass is a point. If they make 5 passes, another attacking player joins in to make 2 v 2.

SSG Game with 7 v 7 game with the pitch split into vertical thirds. In this game normal football rules apply and include principles of attack and defence while supporting players in possession to help encourage them to play across each of the three thirds to help them to maintain both width and depth.

Coached Mechanics

Passing

Look at target , Eye on ball , Angle of approach, Non-kicking foot alongside ball in a comfortable position, Strike Centre of ball with inside /  Firm ankle

Control

On toes, eye on ball, Get in line with ball, decide and present surface of foot or body to ball, relax on impact.

Shooting

Get your body in a position to strike, Angled approach, Non kicking foot beside the ball, Head over the ball, Select surface and strike, Laces, side foot, follow through accuracy aim.

Attacking principles and Defensive Principles coached through out session where required.

More players can be added to the practice to create passing obstacles.

Players must create a wide angle to recive pass.

Regressions

No rotation

Decrease the size of box to give more accuracy for passing.

Progression

If Attackers make 5 passes, another attacking player joins in to make 2 v 2.

Alter pitch layout remove the central cones in shaded area to make 1 area and include more attackers

Regression

Play as a handball game so the players can find it easier to use the space and get use to the movements  

Challenges, Conditions or Targets:

 Attackers make 5 consecutive passes wins 3pts

 Defender wins the ball wins 2 pts

Rotate 2 attackers to defender after 3mins

Progression

Removal of the channel still encouraging use of the ball through wide areas.

Players are locked in to a half of the pitch.

 

Regression

1 player plays for the team in possesion of the football to help create width quicker.

 

Challenges, Conditions or Targets:

If a goal is created from a wide postion after switch goal counts as 2.

Attacking goal keeper starts the new game after a goal is scored. (To keep flow of attack and encourage defenders to win ball back).

Wide players are locked in to the channel to help provide the width.
