Set-Up
The field is divided into 4 equal grids. 1 neutral player in each grid (Y). 4v4 in starting grid. 8 small goals surrounding the grids.
The blue team, in possession, attempts to complete X amount of passes before transferring to another grid and trying to score. When transferring ALL players must transfer to that grid. Neutral players cannot score. If the white team win the ball they must transfer to a new grid and try to score immediately. when the ball goes out of play it restarts in a different grid. Whichever team starts with possession must attempt the number of passes chosen before scoring.
Progressions - all players must have transferred to a new grid before a shot, encouraging a fast transition.
Coaching Points
- Immediate thoughts once possession is won, look for the free player and break at pace.
- scan and understand neutral players positions.
- Move together at pace, catch the opposition off guard.
Questions/Answers Problem/Solution
Q- Why is it important to break at pace? A - gives our oppo less time to organise
P - We lose possession too quickly once we have transferred S - Move into intelligent positions, don't just transfer for the sake of it. Pick up positions in space, where you can have a positive effect on the play.
