Organization:
40 x 30 yard area set up as shown, 10 players (2 Teams of 5) set up as shown, 1 ball (Additional around the outside)
Instructions:
- Play a 5 v 5 game with a halfway line
- White team starts the game by playing the ball into the blue team
- 3 players from the White team are now allowed to enter the other half to try and win possession back
- If the White team are successful in winning the ball back, they then play the ball back into their half and retreat
- Blue team must now send 3 of their players into the red team’s half and try to win possession back
Coaching Points:
1. Get in line with the ball
2. Assess the situation as the ball travels
3. Select appropriate surface (Receiving – Inside, Outside, Thigh , Chest, Head)
4. Arms out for balance
5. Withdraw surface on impact
6. Direction of touch to enable next action
Progressions:
P – Limit players touches
R – Defender are only allowed to walk

50 x 40 yard area set up as shown, 14 players (6 Attackers, 6 Defenders, 2 Targets/Goalkeepers) set up as shown

Instructions:
- Teams score by getting the ball to the target player. Once the team has scored one way they then have to play to the other target player
- If the defending team wins the ball they can play to any target
- Targets are free to move along the side line
- Play for set time periods
Coaching Points:
1. Get into line with the ball
2. Assess the situation as ball travels
3. Select appropriate surface
4. Withdraw surface upon impact
5. Direction of touch to enable next action
Progressions:
P – Teams must complete 5 passes before playing to target
R – Add neutral players to give a numbers up advantage

Instructions:
- Teams score in regular fashion
- Players have three touches maximum
- Neutrals have 1 touch
- If the ball leaves the area the game is restarted with regular rules
- Play for a set time period and rotate players

Progressions:

Organization:
Open working area set up as shown, 6 players set up as shown
Instructions:
- The sequence is a short, short, long pass
- Each player is assigned a role, setter, feeder or target
- The first pass is made by the feeder into the setting player who passes the ball back to the feeding player, the feeding player then plays a longer pass (around 20 yards or more) to the target player
- The setter then runs towards the target player and the sequence is repeated
- The target player now becomes the new feeding player and visa versa
- Target players must look to control the ball quickly and pass into the setting player at the earliest opportunity
- Rotate the setting players so that they have the opportunity to control the ball

2.Assess the flight as ball travels
3.Select appropriate surface
4.Withdraw surface at impact
Progressions:
P – Increase the passing distance
P – Limit players to two touches
R – Make the long pass a throw if players are struggling technically
R – Reduce the distance of the longer pass
