Session Objectives:
Improve the teams ability to create goal scoring opportunities after winning possession of the ball in the middle third. This will be achieved through counter-attacking patterns.
1. Ability to apply Mid-block defensive scheme taught during training.
2. Ability to apply Counter-attacking patterns taught during training.
3. How many chances on goal can we create from counter-attacking play?

Organization:
1. Set up as shown (50x35yds) - Two 25yd zones.
2. Three teams of 6 players
3. Plenty of Balls.
Instructions:
Each team performs 12 counter-attacking plays. (10-12 minutes)
1. Players perform combination play shown above.
2. Rotation: Outside players become central/target players, central/target players become wide players, wide players go to outside.
3. Competition: 1 point for each completed pattern.

Perform Counter-Attacking Patterns: (Free Flowing)
1. Switch of play through #9 & #6/#8 to opposite flank.
2. Switch of play through #7/#11 to #9 to #10 to opposite flank.
3. Switch of play through #6/#8 to wide player to one touch cross.
4. Switch of play through #9 making diagonal wide penetrating run, #10 dribble penetrates then finds pass to wide #9 or opposite mid #7/#11, one touch cross.

Organization:
1. Set up as shown (40x25yds) - Two zones 0f 20yds.
2. Two grids.
2. 18 players.
3. Plenty of balls.
Instructions:
4 games of 3 minutes (45 sec rest)
1. Players will play 4v4 in central zones.
2. Black team scores: 1 pt for shot on target/ 2 pt for goal.
3. When Yellow team wins possession of the ball the black team CF cannot help in defensive recovery.
4. Yellow team scores by winning the ball
5. Play continues with coach playing ball in.
Coaching Points:
1. Ability of defending group to force play into tight areas through angle of pressure applied.
2. Take advantage of defensive disorganization after winning possession of the ball. (Attack Minded)
3. After winning possession of the ball can we find the 1st pass into penetrating zones?
4. If opponent is blocking passing channels can look to make bounce passes to move opponent and have 3rd attacker make runs in behind space created.

Organization:
1. Set up as shown (70ydsx60yds)
2. 30yd "offside line" for team defending the large goal.
3. 18 players.
Instructions:
2 Intervals of 6 minutes (30 sec rest)
1. Teams play 9v8.
2. Yellow plays 3-5-1 shape and scores on large goal.
3. Black team plays a 1-4-3 shape and score on 3 counter goals.
4. Ball always starts from Black Team Goalkeeper.
Coaching Points:
1. Ability to apply defensive principles of mid-block defending.
a. #9 look to make opponent's build up shorter by cutting passing lanes to opposite CB & Fullback.
b. #7/#11 apply pressing trap to opponent's #2/#3 & #6. Force play centrally through angle of approach.
c. #10 press high on opponents #6 (key area to regain possession), #6/#8 press high on opponent's #8/#10 (key area to regain possession)

Organization:
-Cones placed 5 meters a part for a total of 20 meters with 4 cones placed on each side of the grid 3 meters from the interior cones.
-Movements at 50 %,increase load/% as you progress
-Movements will be done 2x each, except jog (3x) and accelerations (2x)
