Description

Organisation (Practice Layout & Transition)

The session plan is based on players working on SPOA and receiving with the correct angle/body orientation and distance of the ball. With various exercises to be introduced, the coach will go over the basic fundamentals and principles we are working towards improving.

WARM UP (15 mins)

Organization:

3v0 in each grid can progress into 3v1 or 4v1

Can have multiple grids going at the same time

Instructions:

- players are working on passing, receiving, and moving in the open space

- The first attacker always needs support to their left and right, so movement off the ball will come from the player who is "inactive" for the passing interaction.

- Allow for players to understand who is moving, why they are moving, and begin to layer in pressure (in the form of passing or time constraints)

- Players are to be active and show options both verbally (speaking) and non-verbal (Hand gesture)

Coaching Points:

- Opening of the hips when receiving the ball How? Why?

- Weight of the pass, targeting the teammate's back foot to allow them to play either way

- Movement off the ball (support first attacker)

Work/Rest Ratio:

- 4 rounds x 1:00

- Rest: 45 Sec

Adaptations

(Progressions & Regressions):

Progression: Add a defender to make it 3v1

Regression: Make it 4v0 so no players are moving to another line, but still working on the body orientation and angles

Challenges

- Being able to receive with the farthest foot

- Recognizing to move in open space in the correct moment

Conditions:

- Players will only be allowed to have 2 touches on the ball

- Player movement every 2 seconds

EX. 1 (20 mins)

Organization: 6v2+1

9 Players

grid size: 25x20

One ball

2 zones

Rings

Small goals

Rules:

- Players are in a rondo, keeping possession playing a 6v2+1. Players in possession (blue) need to connect with all four players in the box before SPOA. The player in green is neutral and is playing with the team in possession of the ball. Players in Blue score 1 point by SPOA on the other side of the grid,  or 2 points by breaking lines in between the two defenders in the middle. Players in Red will be the defenders, defenders need to steal the ball and score on small goals in the middle of the field to make 3 points, or they can dribble the ball outside the grid to make 2 points.

Players in red on the other side of the grid may only go inside the grid once the attacking team touches the ball. Other players may rest.

Point System:

Blue = Makes 1 point if they SPOA, or 2 points if they break lines between defenders

Red = Makes 3 points if they score in small goals in the middle of the field, or 2 points if they dribble passed the grid

Adaptations (Progressions & Regressions):

Progressions: Add an Attacking player (blue) inside the grid to make it 5v2

Regression: Take out one defender to make it easier for the players to circulate the ball.

Challenges:

A lot of space to cover when defending

Some players may be waiting for a little until they SPOA

Find ways to involve the other players

Conditions:

Players will only have 2 touches on ball for attacking team

Players on defending team have unlimited touches

Players are to receive with thier body open

Players off the ball to show passing lines/angles to players on the ball

Movement off the ball is essential

Coaching Points:

Receive with correct body orientation

Given accurate angles/distance related to ball position

Transition Moment:

If blue loses the ball, they have 6 seconds to get it back and reorganize

If red wins the ball they have 6 seconds to score directly in goal

Work/Rest Ratio:

3 Rounds x 2:30 Minutes

Rest: 1:00 Min

Teams:

Blue - Jonathan, Alex, Joaquin | Jameson (N) | Pablo,  Sebastian, Danny

Red - Nico, Cameron, | Gavi, Chris, Noah

EX. 2 (20 mins)

Organization:

3v3+3+2NPs

Players will play in a 30x25 grid. Two teams playing together versus one team. Teams in possession looking to SPOA by breaking lines or finding open space to pass the ball. Players on the attacking team need to keep possession, if they spot a chance to SPOA they may do so by calling out the player's name, if not, they can continue to hold the ball until they have an opportunity to switch. Once the player Switches, the opposing team needs to run there and defend. If defenders steal the ball they are able to connect with outside neutral to score 3 points or dribble to the outside gray area to make 2 points.

Adjust as needed.

Point System:

Attackers: Score by SPOA directly, or connect with the neutral player to make 1 point

Defenders: Score by stealing the ball and passing to neutral outside the line 3pts, or dribble to the grey area outside the space 2pts

Adaptations:

Progression: Add goals to each side +GKs

Regression: Remove Center Neutral players to make it manageable for the defensive team

Coaching Points:

- Movement off the ball, to support the first attacker

- Communication off the ball, both, verbal and non-verbal to instruct passer and receiver

- Showing passing lines to teammates by moving into space

Work/Rest Ratio:

4 Rounds x 1:30

- 2:00 Rest

Transition Moment:

- If the team in possession loses the ball they have to recover the ball within 6 seconds and reorganize. If they don't recover and defend team scores they will switch roles after the round is over

- Defending team has 6 seconds to score after winning the ball

Teams:

Blue: Jonathan, Pablo, Cameron

Red: Joaquin, Sebastian, Gavi

Green: Alex, Jameson, Danny

NP: Chris, Nico
