Transition Game (30 mins)
Set Up: Use half-field with wide counter goals and a 10yd x 10yd square with a 3-yd gate; 14 players playing 7v7 to big goal / counter goals.
Activity
Attacking Team
i) Inside the square, play 4v2 rondo. Complete FOUR passes, then attackers can transition out the square and go to goal, creating a 7v5.
ii) If attackers complete 4-passes and transition out the square, two defending players MUST exit through the gate and transition to defend the goal, creating a 7v7.
iii) Attacking team gets 30-secs to score in big goal. IF the ball goes in or out over the end line, game restarts back in the rondo square.
Defending Team
i) Inside the 4v2 rondo square, if the defenders WIN the ball (possession), the game restarts immediately with the GK and the defending team look to build out and score in either counter goal. The two rondo defenders can immediately transition out the square to create a 7v3.
ii) If defenders do win the ball and transition out the square, four attacking players MUST exit through the gate and transition to defend the counter goals, creating a 7v7.
iii) During attacking phase to goal / counter goals, any change of possession triggers a one-time 30-sec transition to goal / counter goals counter attack.
