Football/Soccer Session (Beginner): 4v4+3

Possession (20 mins)

Session Organisation:

• Mark out 2 12x12 squares side by side. Adapt size of the area to the needs of the player. 
• 4v4 in the centre plus 3 floaters to play for in possession team.
• The 3 floaters are positioned at either end of the area and one in the centre.
• Set out markers or flats to mark out the squares as this will be important.

 Instructions:

• One team starts in possession of the ball. The team in possession must vacate a space between the markers around the outside of the area.
• Two players are not allowed in the same position.
• Using the floaters, can they keep possession of the ball looking to switch play when possible.
• The defending team must press aggressively and organised to win possession of the ball.
• If won, the team must quickly transition and move into the positions between the markers as fast as possible.

Coaching Points (in possession):

• Play off one touch to relieve pressure.
• Movement and angles to receive.
• Find the Spare man.

• Press aggressively.
• Deny any Space through the centre of the pitch.
• transition quickly when possession is won.
