How to position body to protect it

Moving with ball while shielding (technical)
Players move as shown in diagram. Once get to a corner, players must use turn while shifting the ball to keep away from defender.
Variation (use passive defender as visual)
Coaching points:
- Keep ball on outside of player
- Use of outside of foot to dribble
- Turn making sure you keep ball away from defender
- Arm out to create distance

1 v 1 to wide gates
Defender passes into attacker. Defender then applies pressure. The attacking player tries to dribble through gate for a point.
Coaching points:
- Spacial awareness in relation to 1st touch
- When to protect ball vs exploi space

1 v 1 to receive with back to goal
Player plays ball into attacking player who tries to turn and pass into wide goals. If they win the ball, defender dribbles across endline for point.
Coaching points:
- Use of body to protect ball
- Can you turn with 1st touch?

Smash and Grab
Players try to keep their ball away from the defenders. Defenders try to kick balls out of the grid. Upon losing their ball, the attackers can join in and help your team-mates keep the ball away from the defenders.

- Decision making (when and where to shield vs pass)

1 v 1 Shielding
Players number 1 and 2. Both start with a ball and have 45 seconds to touch the opponents ball as many times as possible.
Progression: Only 1 player has the ball and touch opponent's ball
Progression 2: Defender tries to steal ball
Coaching points:
- Position body in between ball and defender
- Sideways on
- Use of arms to create barier
- Ball on furthest foot
- Stay balanced
