Description

The purpose of the training session is to improve individual tactics offensively in a 1v1 situation with the defender in your back. The warm up works on the coordination, body balance, core strength and acceleration needed during the execution of the topic.

The exercise form is set up in 2 stages, the first one is working on the technical execution in a play form starting with passive pressure increasing to full pressure, the second one is more game oriented as we are added direction to the drill by having the players after successfully making a move with the defender in the back to attack the goal.

The game form is set up in a 6v6 situation with a 1-2-3-1 formation. The reason for this is that when the goalkeeper starts with the ball, the defenders can separate and be open. Once they have the ball they will have at least 3 options to play the ball into their feet from which the situation is created wherein the receiver can try to make a move on his opponent to go to goal.

Warm up (20 mins)

Organization:

There are 4 organization with each 4 players. There are 2 cones about 15 meters apart with in the middle two cones that form a gate. The gate is about 1.5-2 meters wide. Each organization needs to have 5 balls

Instructions:

Drill 1) Players warm up by jogging through the gate and going around the far cone, they must wait till all 4 players have gone through the gate before going back to their starting point. While they are jogging they do the following dynamic exercises:

- High knees

- Kick butts

- Side step

- Arm swings

Drill 2) There are now 2 players starting on opposite sides. The first two in each line run simultaneously towards the gate and make two different motions when they go through the gate after which they return to their starting point.

- Run through, set both feet and lead with the right foot towards the right side setting off on the left foot and turning tightly around the cone.

- Run through, set both feet and open up 180 degrees leading with the inside foot.

Drill 3) The 2nd player in line is now the tagger, he starts 1 meter behind the 1st player. As soon as the 1st player sprints towards the gate the defender follows. The 1st player must turn through the gate with either of the two movements practiced in drill 2 and make it back. The defender must also go through the gate and can only tag the 1st player if they are on the same line, i.e. tagger cannot tag him as the attacker has gone through the gate but the tagger has not.

Drill 4) Player on opposite side has a ball and passes the ball to the runner just prior to him getting to the gate. The attacker receives the ball with either of the two options given in drill 2. The players can receive the ball before the make the move if they have to. The passer becomes the attacker and the 2nd player in line becomes the passer.

Coaching Points:

1) Setting feet to create a balance before accelerating

2) Bend knees when making the turn and putting force on set off foot.

Progressions:

See drill 1, 2, 3, and 4

Exercise form 1 (20 mins)

Organization:

There are 2 organizations set up on either side of the 18 yard box. Each organization has 8 players (2 defenders, 6 attackers)

There is a starting point for the passes and a 3x3 meter box. Right behind the box is the starting point for the receiver. On either side of the receiver are passing options for after the make the move.

Instructions:

Player 1 passes the ball into player 2. The action is lead by Player 2 so when he leaves his cone is when the ball is played. D1 follows Player 2 into the box. Inside the box Player 1 must try to turn with the ball and exit the box on either sideline of the box, then Player 1 must pass the ball successfully to Player 3 or Player 4 (depending on which way he turns). Player 2 follows his pass and Player 3 or Player 4 dribbles the ball back to the starting point.

We start of with passive pressure.

Coaching Points:

1) If the ball is passed into your right foot, fake left and continue to go right.

2) Set feet to create a balance position from with you can receive the ball and accelerate.

3) Pass the ball to Player 3 or Player 4 with the far foot (the foot away from the defender)

Progressions:

- Full pressure
