WHO - 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 11
WHERE - In the mid-low block position in their own defensive half
WHAT - Defending in the 4-3-3 position (4-5-1)
WHY - 4-3-3 holds a higher tactical understanding and will challenge players to get back to defend whilst also allowing for much more attacking flexibility
HOW - #6 keeps equidistant from the 4,5,8&10. #11 dropping outside of #3 and #7 dropping outside of #2 whilst the #9 moves around the opponents defensive line.

SSG - 6v4
The whole concept lies on not stabbing or jumping in, if the ball is there to be won, win it.
1st defender = Delay
2nd defender = Cover
3rd defender = Contain
4th defender = Balance
Objective for the 7 & 11 - as soon as we have lost the ball is to resort back to supporting the 2 & 3. The 7 & 2 and 11 & 3 must not get flat with each other unless on the line of retreat. Show attacing players outside
Spaces inbetween 2, 4, 5 & 3 need to be no more than 8 yards between each player. and the same applies to the 11, 7, 8 & 6
If the ball is on the side of the 7 & 2, the 11 can push up to anticipate the ball being dropped back into the middle of the field. This applies to the 7 as well.
Coaching Points
1) What do the 7 & 2 do when in a low-mid block and what do the the 7&2 do when the 2 is left 1v1 and the 7 is tracking back? (Same for the 3 & 11)
2) How do the blue team transition from attack to defence?
3) How do the blue team transition from defence to attack?
4) Where do the blue team force the opposition?
5) How does the team handle with a player coming into your zone?
6) What is the defensive body position

Place poles 10 yards away from each other in a diamond shape.
Press the player opposite you, show good defensive technique but do not win the ball. That player will then go to the end of that line. The player who receives the ball must pass left and move to the right.
1st Progression - Now you can take your teach either way
2nd Progression - Pressing player must force the player with the ball into a direction.

1) How to defend in the delay/jockey position
2) How to notice a trigger?
3) What is the trigger to engage?
4) What is the speed of the press and how far away do you slow down?
5) How can a payer position themselves so that they are defensively aware with their bod position?
