Organisation:

  • 6v6 game, 50x30 pitch size (adjust to suit space and number of players).
  • 3 goals either end, 2pts to score in wide goals,1pt to score in center goal.
  • 3v3 in either side of pitch, players cannot cross over center line to help create width.

Coaching Points:

  • Maintain a good shape, width and depth.
  • Good first touch, Scan and aware of space.
  • Quality passing, weight, timing and accuracy.
  • Communication. Verbal and non verbal.

Switching play & using width

Organization:

  • 8v8 on half pitch, 1-4-2-1(red)  v 2-2-2 (blue) in central zone.
  • 2 wide players play with the team in possession, must stay in wide zone.
  • Blues score into big goal, if reds win possession they transition to score in small goals.
  • Progress to full game where FB can press wide players.

Coaching Points:

  • Keep good shape to team, width and depth.
  • Awareness of space and players on pitch , scan.
  • Decision making, where and when to pass or dribble,
  • Quality of pass.
  • Communication.
