3v3 Cross from wide (20 mins)

Setup:

Same as previous but adding a 3rd defender and a 4th attacker.

Activity:

GK organizes backs to press ball side back to wide channel and compact weak side back to track in dangerous space in front of goal. Attacking team can send 1 player into wide channel in combination. Defending team scores by playing ball to high, wide targets.

Coaching Points:

Pressure / cover on initial combination play into channel then immediate recovery. Near post runner is most dangerous, central runner is next, far post runner next, etc. Defenders must identify and track most dangerous runs. Goalkeeper must be aware of targets to anticipate where cross is likely to be played.
