Organisation:-
70m x 30m (this may vary due to age/ability of the players and thephysical demands required)Play 7v7 + 2 GKs
Realism to full size game is essential.
Explanation:-
The objective of the team in possession is to try and play through, around or over the opposition players to score. The team inpossession to try to move the opposition out of position to exploit space and break lines. Once a team has scored play restarts with theopposition. The SSG MUST reflect the 11v11 game.
Conditions, Challenges & Targets:-
Players must try to break the lines of the opposing team by threading split passes through opposing players. Each team will score 3 goals for splitting opposing players and 1 goal for playing around or over the opposition players.
Both teams to keep the ball under pressure and find solutions to break lines and play forward. GKs play out from the back and give option to build up from the back. Defence encourage press from oppostion; open up option to play through, around or over.
Problem 1- Manage the reds to drop off to the edge of the centre circle.
Solution 1- Travel with the ball, commit opposition and pass to open player- through, around or over.
Problem 2- Opposition to press.
Solution 2- Options to play over the press.
Problem 3- Opposition sit back on edge of their own goal.
Solution 3- Play around this deep line.

Detail 'What If' scenario- Animation not situation.
1. If CF screens DCM and other 3 CM man mark in midfield. Play around and across the other side.
2. Defender presses middle so becomes 3v3. The ball is clipped over the top to create 1v1.
3. Defensive midfielder does not press but marks 50/50 on overload. Attacking midfielder pulls wide and carries the ball until defender is drawn in thus creating overload.
4. Defending striker cuts off pass to attacking midfielder. The ball is squared to adjacent defender to play out or defender travels with ball while midfielder pulls wide to create space for pass.

Welsh Way Principles- Playing through, around and over
Understand when and how to play through, around and/or over theopposition based on the type of pressure applied.
Organisation:-
Area Size60m x 30m (this may vary due to age/ability of the players and the physical demands required)Play 6v6 + 1 common player centrally(In Yellow) + 2 GKsPlay 4 x 3 minute periods with 2 min break. MF players can move around the practice as directed by the coach based on playing principles, the centrebacks for both the blue/red team are locked into the boxes as servers for the specific part of the practice.
NOTE:- Other players that will take place in the SSG to follow specific practice are with another coach working on some individual specfic session that's relevant to 'breaking lines' in preparation for SSG.
Explanation:-
Both teams are focusing on the same in possession principle butonly ONE team is coached and the other team is managed. Theobjective of the team in possession is to try and play through, aroundor over the opposition players and score by transferring the ball into their #9. The team in possession can use the common player tobounce the ball off who is limited to two touch. Once a team has successfully got the ball into the #9 they can then go through into a 1v1 vthe GK. This is managed by a countdown to mimic the game. The GK then distributes a ball into a centreback and play restartsHowThe coach will only work with ONE team and manage the opposition. EG the blues here have the ball, they've used the common player toplay through (the extra player will give you an element of success) and is a wide player who has overloaded the central area/ centreforward who has dropped deep. If the blue team are out of possession they are not coached but need to adhere to the realism of thesession. The opposition, when in possession, will adhere to the same in possession playing principles but WON'T be coached at anytime, only managed to ensure realism and to maximise what YOU want from the session. Ensure they adhere to a managed countdownso the blue team work the majority with the ball.
Conditions, Challenges & Targets:-
1. Players must try to break the lines of the opposing team by threading split passes through opposing players in midfield. Each team willscore 3 goals for splitting opposing players and 1 goal for playing around2. Limited touches in possession (E.g. 2 or 3 touch max)Block 1: Manage reds to defend the centre circle (narrow) / ask the common player to play inside the centre circle, work with the reds onhow they play around the bluesBlock 2: Manage the reds to get closer to the blues, mark tight (this should open things up a little), you should now be able to find thespare player and work with the MF3 on how they can play through the redsBlock 3: Manage the reds to employ either of the above.
