SESSION - Creating overload counter attacking opportunities (Possession Practice)
14 or 16 players, 7v7, 6v6. (4v4+2 in red square). Play starts by coach playing a ball into red square for possession game. - Both teams have an attacker and defender plus goalkeeper outside square.
- make 5 passes and play into forward
The objective is to gain possession in red square and play quickly into attackers feet. As ball gets played into forward, one attacker can join the forward and create a 2v1 overload in front of goal and finish. Repeat process
PROGRESSIONS
1. Allow 2 support players to link up with the forward and a defender to track runners.
2. Forward drops in to the red square, attracting the defender to follow her. Two other attackers enter attacking zone to receive and finish.

Setup:
2v2v2v2
-In a 20x20 grid with 4 players outside, 2 attackers and 2 defenders in middle. Set up two grids side by side. Keep possession by creating 2-3 passing options at all times. 5-6 passes that include at least one central player equals a point. Rotate players in the middle.
-Outside players CANNOT pass to each other
Duration:
- 4 sets so each group gets 2 sets in the middle
Progession:
-Add a neutral player if needed

-Focus on good passing technique
-Receive on the back foot
-Preparatory 1st touch
-Neutral players move to good support angles
