Arrival Activity- Technical skills (10 mins)

SET UP: Arrival Activity- Technical skills

> 4 balls in play.

> Coach to have a good supply of balls to keep flow of arrival activity.

KEY POINTS:

1. First 4 players manipulate their balls to central mannequins. Ball mastery moves :-

-toe taps -tic tacs -inside/outsides -sole rolls -inside x2 outside -outside x2 inside -dribbling -slalom -RWB.

**coach can add in cones, flats for slalom**

2. Players to perform a skill move to change direction to their right and accelerate away from the turn.

-Fakes/disguise -Scissors -Double scissors -Drag -Cruyff -Maradona -Ronaldo chop -Step over -Matthews. Also ball mastery touches from above.

3. After each skill is performed and players return to home base (1 complete loop), change the direction (to the left).

**CP1**- Dribble at pace, slow down to perform the skill then acclerate away from the mannequin.

**CP2**- Play with your head up, nice and fleet footed and focus on timing and distance from mannequin/player when executing the skill.

**CP3**- When receiving next pass be ready, bouncing on toes, taking a positive first touch towards the mannequin.

POTENTIAL PROGRESSIONS:

**See next slide**

Review / Reflect (to be completed after each session)..

1. How did the players find the arrival?

2. For older groups could add in some dynamic stretching before adding the balls, same movement patterns.

3. Focus on increasing ball speed and running speed as players adapt to the session, tone and tempo for the upcoming session!

4. Revisit this and check skill retention of players.
