DEFENSIVE STRATEGY FOR MF UNIT OUT OF POSSESSION IN A 4-3-3 FORMATION WITH OUR TEAM SET OUT TO PRESS FROM A MID BLOCK:
* WE ARE 3V3 IN MF ZONE
* BLUE CH STARTS PLAY AND OBJECTIVE IS TO TRY AND SCORE BY PENETRATING THROUGH CENTRAL ZONE
BLOCK 1= 5 MINS
* B9 CAN DROP IN TO MAKE A 4V3 AND RED CH MUST STAY OUTSIDE ZONE FOR 1ST BLOCK
? IF WE WANT OUR CH TO TRACK B9 INTO DEEPER AREAS OR KEEP OUR SHAPE AND LET R 7/11 NARROW OFF TO MAKE 4V4
KEY POINT
* CAN WE STAY NARROW AND COMPACT AND STOP SPLIT PASSES THROUGH CENTRAL ZONE > TRY AND FORCE WIDE OR BACK AND STAY GOAL SIDE AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE > WIDE PLAYERS ONLY VACATE AND PRESS B FB'S ONCE BALL HAS LEFT FOOT AND FORCE CHANNEL SIDE TO BLOCK OFF LINK THROUGH MF
* BLUE FB'S STAY IN WIDE AREAS FOR THIS EXERCISE AND B CH IS UNNOPOSED
* IF RED TEAM WIN POSSESSION THEN WIDE PLAYERS CAN ENTER CENTRAL ZONE WITH AIM TO USE OVERLOAD TO MAKE 3/4/5 PASSES TO THEN FIND BLUE CH TO SCORE POINT
** IF BLUE TEAM PENETRATE THROUGH ZONE THEN THEY CAN ATTACK 2V1 (CF & MF PLAYER) AS REWARD AND IF CH WINS IT OR GK HAS GOOD POSSESSION THEN THEY CAN START PASSING PHASE ON TRANSITION AS ABOVE
*IF BLUE NO 9 DROPS IN THEN A RED 7/11 CAN NARROW OFF TO MKE 4V4 AND LEAVE FURTHEST FB (WIDE PLAYERS MUST WORK ON A PIVOT AND WHEN ONE IS PRESSING FB THEN OPPOSITE ONE IS NARROW ON SIDE OF BLUE <>
* IF B 9 AND MF PLAYER ROTATE THEN COMMUNICATION IS IMPORTANT TO EITHER TRACK RUNNER OR PASS ON TO CH
DEPENDING ON NUMBERS THEN I CAN TAKE AWAY A R WIDE PLAYER AND B FB
BLOCK 2= 10 MINS
* OPEN PLAY WITH ALL PLAYERS LIVE

STARTING FORMATIONS/PLAYERS
OUT OF POSSESSION GAME STRATEGY
*Both teams are playing a 4-3-3 formation with blue team a 1-2 MF and red team a 2-1 midfield to match them up.
I will be coaching the Arsenal team and my task is to set up the midfield unit in a mid block when out of possession.
*Distances between units to limit space/options
DES WALKER: Defending from the front
* CF presses CH to try and force pass to FB with No 10 pressing Blue No 4 > red 7/11 then release from narrow position to press FB and show channel side
? how does this effect my MF unit & then def unit
