Screen 1 Formation work 7 a side Defending (20 mins)
Formation shape work 7 a side formation 1-2-3-1. Defending
Set up - Attacking team 2 - 3 - 2 v defending team 1-2 - 3 -1 . Play starts from 2 Blue defenders who play in zone 1 v 1 Yellow Player ( forward), they can play into any of the three blue midfield players who can drop off unapposed behind half way line to receive ball, yellow midfield have to remain in the defensive half of the pitch. Once the Blue midfield receive ball they must try to pass to blue forwards or could shoot directly into one of the 3 small goals.
On completion of attack coach immediately commences next attack if defending team wins the ball try to play to coach to kill attack.
Outcomes
In this example the yellow player 1 ( forward) is outnumbered so tries to force play down one side of pitch and if possible forcing a hurried pass by applying pressure. The 3 Midfield yellow players react to this by shuffling across the pitch with yellow 4 pressing the ball, yellow 3 moving across to fill gap nearest pressing player and yellow 2 tucking in alongside player 3 to assist compactness. All midfield players must screen so forward passes canot be played to Blue forwards or directly into small goals. Yellow defenders 5 and 6 also react to movement across pitch by moving yellow 6 to ball side / man side position to improve opportunity to intercept number 5 moves in to take up position on next forward. Nearest player must press ball other move to take up good support positions to ensure compactness and opportunities to intercept or prevent turns.
Physical - Short sharp dynamic movements to when pressing, strength in challenge.
Winning Attitude - Communicate instructions, encourage, focused and concentration, keep POSITIVE !!
