Football/Soccer Session (Moderate): Phase of play

POP (20 mins)

9v7 phase of play. Red team is attacking large goal on end of field, blues attack goal in middle of field. Red goalkeeper can't reset in possession, can only save shots or restart play when the ball leaves the playing area. Each restart begins from red goalkeeper.

Reds : 1-4-3-3 formation (CBs excluded)

Blues : 1-4-4-2 formation (wingers and forwards excluded)

Watch for :

- no wide players on same vertical line. One provides width, one supports inside (2v1)

- 1 & 2 touch central combinations to unlock defensive block near top of penalty area

- quick switches of play (overload to isolate)

- deny central penetration immediately after losing possession, look to regain near opponent's goal
