In the session I aim to improve the team’s ability to stop the opposition from creating scoring chances on the edge of the 18 yard box, by forcing them wide

What: Last season we allowed the opposition to create goal scoring chances from around the edge of our 18 yard box
Who: Our 2-5 their 6-11
Where: Central are in defensive third
When: An opposition player is on the ball facing forward in our defensive third
Why: If we can stop the opposition from creating numerous goal scoring chances it will allow us to concede less goals

Setup:
Field: Half Field
Players: 17
Equipment: 20 balls, 8 red bibs, 8 blue bibs,2 pop up goals, 1 full size goal
Explanation:
Ball always starts with the Assistant Coach. The AC plays the ball into the red #6.
Red #2/5/11/7 are limited to their areas. Unless the ball is on the opposite wing, then they can come in to the centre of field to assist.
Blue #7/11 are the only defender allowed in the wing areas.
Blue team when they win ball back have 10 seconds to score in either of the pop up goals.
Red team, are attacking the full size goal. Before they are allowed to play it out to the wing, they must combine 5 passes in the central area 1st.
Once the ball has passed the 18 yard line, any player can enter the wing areas to defend/attack
Scoring Method:
1 point per goal
Blue 1 point for winning the ball in the central area, outside the 18 yard box.
Red 1 point for getting a shot on target from the central area, outside the 18 yard box.
Team Task:
Can we stop them from getting a shot off in a central area outside the 18

Explanation:
Ball starts with the blue team keeper, who distribute it long to either the 2,5 or 6 of the red team.
Red team attack the Full size goal
Blue team attack the 2 Pop up goals that represent their #9/10
Scoring Method:
Blue team, 1 point per goal
Red team, 3 points per goal scored from the centre of the field, 1 point for scoring from either wing (i.e from a player in the centre scoring from cross or a shot from the wing)
Starting Positions:
Red team, 3,4,1. Make the field as wide as possible
Blue team, 4,2,2. Back 4 compact. 2 HM shielding the back 4

Field: 2 areas setup with 4 grids in each. Each grid 10 x 15.

Equipment: 20 balls, 8 red bibs, 8 blue bibs, 8 Pop up goals
Explanation:
Ball starts from 1 side with the coach/Assistant coach.
Red team have to remain in their allocated grid
Blue team can leave their grid, but not their half.
Coach serves a red player who pass the ball between themselves trying to find an opening to play a through ball into 1 of the pop up goals.
If blue intercept the ball, they get 3 passes to play a through ball into 2 of the pop up goals.
