6v6v6 Rondo (20 min)

6v6v6 Rondo w/ small 4 small goals (25 min)

45x55 area with 2 zones of 25x45 and central zone of 5x45

Coach starts excerise by playing ball in to zone with Red team who possess in a 6v3. Red must connect 3/4 passes before trying to penetrate central zone and succesfull play over to yellow. If succesfull,  yellow would then posses in a 6v3 with Blue transitioning over to press and win ball and score in either small goal. Blue central zone of 3 players provide cover to not allow penetrating pass, when they win ball they will play ball to coach for restart.  Coach will start with new ball after a goal is scored/ ball leaves playing area. Each team will rotate through and defend every 3/4 minutes.

Coaching Points:

  • Body shape: Players receiving the ball should be positioned in a "side-on" stance, which allows them to see more of the field and play the ball forward with their first touch or quickly switch the point of attack.
  • Short and quick passes: Emphasize sharp, well-weighted passes .
  • Passing options: Sideways and forward or backwards when required
  • The timing of movements for #6 CDM, is crucial to be in the right place to receive the ball to breaklines...look to find pockets
  • High in wide with #2,#3 as starting positions
  • Create 3v1 or 3v2s triangular shapes, avoid being flat

11v8 Build goal kick build out (25-30 min)

11v8 building out from goal kick w/ progession to 2 small goals 70x70 area (25 min)

Keeper starts ball with goal kick to work on succesful build out and break press while maintaing possess and score in 2 small goals beyond midfield

Coaching Points:

  • Make the field big, Center Backs (CBs): Split wide of 18 box, creating space and passing options, Fullbacks/Wingers : Provide width, start high and wide (near halfway/touchline) to stretch the opponent.
  •  #6  Position at the top of the box or slightly deeper to receive and turn.
  • Forwards: Stay high to pin the opponent's defenders back.
  • 10 and 8 must time runs to receive passes in space.
  • Center midfielders and fullbacks should drop into channels to offer support.
  • Encourage positional changes ( invert fullback inside, midfielder outside)
  • Look for sideways, forward and backward passing option.
  •  If the opponent presses high, look for early gaps between lines or longer ball
  • Identify where we have numerical advantage over the defense, 3v1 or 4v2 situation and pass into that space.
  • Body shape: Players receiving the ball should be positioned in a "side-on" stance, which allows them to see more of the field and play the ball forward with their first touch or quickly switch the point of attack.
  • Properly well weighted passes
  • Don't play into pressure: If a player receives the ball and is immediately under pressure, they should use a bounce pass
  • Starting points and timing of movements, particularly from defensive or central midfielders, is crucial to be in the right place to receive the ball.
