BARCELONA STAR (20MINS)
DRILL INSTRUCTIONS
16 PLAYERS - 2 GROUPS OF 8
Players pass & then follow there pass in a star formation. the sequence is as following.
1-2,2-3,3-4,4-5 & finally 5-1.
Coaching Points
Before receiving the pass, players to check over both shoulders to know where the opposition are as in a game situation. As were receiving & passing at different angles, players need to change there body shape to face the next pass so they can take a touch in direction of next pass and play a weighted punched pass to there teammate before sprinting to follow the pass.
ALWAYS TAKE A TOUCH as its a passing & control session.
As in the warm up many of the coacing points follow through the theme.
Comminication, Check over shoulders, change body shape as ball coming, weighted punched ball with inside of foot followed by an explosive movement.
PROGREESIONS
Move around the star anti-clockwise, make the star bigger so passes arew longer & finally stipulate a foot to be used for eg. Right foot only or left only.

GAME BASED DRILL (SMALL SIDED GAME) 30MINS
6v6 Game with 2 players from each team on end lines as shown above.
Players must make a minimum of two passes before scoring a goal by passing to a team mate standing on the end line. Once thet they have scored a goal they keep posession and try and score at the opposite end by passing to there team mate on the end line. Once a pass is made to player on end line players swap places. Players on end line can move based on where ball is on field.
COACHING POINTS
Players need to be constantly switched on so they know which side there scoring into and defending.
Player to be constanty scanning for space and what direction to take there first touch.
All coaching points from warm up & drill to be continued.
PLAYERS MUST ALLOWS TAKE A TOUCH BEFORE PASSING.

DRILL INSTRCTIONS
The above diagram shows the sequence of passes for one group as they work there way through the diiferent passing ranges & movements. The above set up is for 16 players but can be made bigger or smaller dependent on group size. Players pass to each other progreesing up the scale and backwards going down the scale.
box 1 - box 1, 1 -2, 2-2, 2-3, 3-3, 3-2,2-2,2-1,1-1 and so on.
As this is a warm up, the running in between starts as a jog and then we gradually intoduce dynamic stretching inbetween passes.
COACHING POINTS
Communication between players, players to show for the ball by making eye contact with team mate and pointing to the specific foot he wants the pass to be played too. Players to be on toes ready to attack the ball as its played. Players to always take a touch before every pass, lift head, see the pass &play the pass.
PROGRESSION
change the style of pass from inside of the foot punched passes to driven passes with laces & finally outside of foot. 5mins Left foot & 5min Right foot.
