open up on cones so you can see 2 players when rec'g ball - player who sent you ball and who you are playing to 

Multiple balls should be in play for each side at once 

Players will finish on opposite line and rotate through other side. 

P1 - add GNG/up back and through from players 3 and 4 who then play to 5

Attacking Build Out (20 mins)

25-30 wide x 35-40 long x 


2v2+1 Build Up. Defensive team plays ball to Attacking team. Attacking team plays ball into Neutral in Build-Up zone who 1T's back to attackers and play 2v2+1. Goals are scored in small goals, If defensive team wins possession they can score goal in counter goal.

Rotate players after 10/12 minutes

Coaching Points: Early movement to support to ball, open body when receiving, good communication, Good weighted passes, look to rotate passes, to create numbers up situation, and goal

scoring chances. Good movement through lines of defense, look for pockets behind and inbetween defensive lines to receive passes.

Secondary Focus: Phase 1 Ball Recovery (Midfield 1/3), although not the Primary focus, players need to understand what needs to happen to prevent goal scoring chances in our midfield 1/3 and regain possession.

Immediate pressure and chase on the ball.

Deny forward play and shooting or crossing opportunities.

Allow team to transition quickly into defensive shape and get numbers behind the ball and around the ball.

Get compact and stay compact.

Create numbers up situations to regain possession or force a turnover.

Deny all goal scoring chances.

3 v 3 with 1 v 1 Transitioning  (15 mins)

Method: 3 v 3 or 4v4 with 1 v 1 Transitioning 

Coaching Points:

  • Set up 1 v 1 in each corner area of the pitch with a 3 v 3 or 4v4 playing central.
  • 3 Blues start off with the ball attacking Red goals. 1 v 1 start at the same time with the aim to dribble over the end line.
  • Whichever player dribbles over the end line, they now join the 3 v 3 game in creating a possible 5 v 3 or 4 v 4.
  • Blues try to score, if reds win the ball they transition to score in smaller goals.
  • Look for movement, angles to receive on the 3v3 with high tempo 1 v 1.

3 v 3 with 2 v 2 transition (15 mins)

Method: Attacking 3 v 3 and 2 v 2 third game with + 1 overload

Coaching Points:

  • Set up 40 x 30 area, split into thirds with 2 boxed areas in the middle third for overload players. 
  • Reds set up with 3 Defenders against 3 Blue Attackers. Opposite end consists of 2 Red Attackers and 2 Blue Defenders. 
  • GK starts with the ball playing from either end, Defender looks to play to neutral player, who then plays into attackers then joins the attack creating either a 4 v 3 or 3 v 2.
  • Quick penetrating pass to neutral players, passing moving, create and close space when required either attacking or defender.
Progression:
  • Rotate players on wings, allow both wingers to join the attack.
  • Play straight up to attackers from defenders, wingers join the attack.

3 v 3 + 2 attacking with T2D (15 mins)

Method: 3 v 3 + 2 attacking with T2D

Coaching Points:

  • Set up 30 x 30 grid into thirds. 
  • 3 Red attackers against 2 Blue Defenders + 1 GK in one third with 3 Blue attackers and 2 Red Defenders + 1 GK in opposite third. 2 Yellow floaters stay central.
  • GK starts play to a Blue Defender, they play central to floaters who aim to play into Blue Attackers. Blue attackers can lay the ball off to a floater. They must show on 1st touch.
  • If Reds win the ball they transition either playing through centrally to the floaters or penetrating pass to Red attackers.
  • If floater scores counts as 2 goals.
Progression:
  • Allow a floater into attacking or defensive area creating 4 v 3.
