Method: Using a narrow pitch on half a full pitch working with the blues.
It's a 7v6 + 1 that joins in once the ball is distributed to him.
The formation for the blues is 3-3.
The formation for the reds is 1-4-2-1
The objective for the reds is to play out to the 10 and then he can join in as an extra man making it an 8v6.
They set up with the following personal 1,2,3,4,5,6,8,10.
The objective for the blue is to intercept the ball as early as possible, turn possession over to create goal scoring opportunity.
The blue will use a 2,3,5,6,8,9 to initiate the press as one unit.
Coaching Points:
Reds
Positional awareness in regards to the ball in order to create space.
Key movements to so not to be predictable making it difficult for the blues.
Pivot players moving the ball quickly so blues cant get set to press.
Wide players staying wide leave that space in the middle.
Ball speed and supporting angles.
Recognising that the keepers is a viable option in possession.
Decision making, dribble, pass etc.
Reaction to losing the ball.
Defensively tuned when losing the ball in relation to the ball position and potential overloads in central areas.
Blues
Setting up the press.
locking in defenders to give information the next pressing player.
Pressing inside out, assess touch and make intelligent decisions.
Communication and understanding of distance between the next pressing player.
Balance and kinaesthetic awareness when tackling.
Emphasising the importance of not giving up space in central areas.
Cutting off passing options so reds cant play through.
Shifting as one in relation to the position of the ball.
Win the ball back as quickly as possible in order to counterattack and score.
