Coaching Points:
- No blind passes, play the way you face

Building through the midfield third
- Ball starts with the centerback, the 10 will drift ballside, horizontally to find space and receive the pass from the 4 or 5.
Example Shown:
- 4 will play a penetrating pass to the 10. (6 will drop inside, and 8 will push forward into space - inverting our triangle).
- The wingers and outside backs will begin to move up the field, and the 10 will have the 6 or the 2 as his outlets (playing the way he is facing).
- 10 plays inside to the 6, this allows more time for the 3 to break onto the oppositions side of midfield to receive the ball in space going forward.
Alternatives
- 6 plays diagonally to the weakside winger
- 6 plays the opposite centermid (8) with a penetrating pass
- 6 plays penetrating pass to the target (9) who can combine with either the 8 or the 10
- If the 10 plays it to the outside back, the outside back can either switch the point of attack or attack the line and combine with the winger and strongside midfielder
- Red lines indicate initial movements, Purple lines indicate the secondary movement (shifting, peeling, or runs)

7v5 in the midfield third
- Can we break down the opposition, and penetrate?
- Find the 10 (highest midfielder)
- a) Focus on finding the weakside centermid with a penetrating pass
- b) Spring the weakside outside back into space
Final Third
- 3v2 + whoever the final penetrating pass involved, going to goal
- FINISH everything.

Building from the Back (10 mins)
Organization:
1/2 Field
Two back four lines and a holding midfielder
Two balls working at the same time

The back four must work the ball to the opposite outside back who then switches the play with a driven diagonal ball to the opposite line.
Sequence is then repeated
After a set time start the sequence from the opposite side so that each FB has the opportunity to play the long pass
Coaching Points:
LB to play to left foot of CB
1st CB to open up and play quickly to 2nd CB
2nd CB to drop to provide a slight angle (no square passes)
1st CB to pass to 2nd CB left foot
RB to start inside and move outside as the ball travels
Holding mid checks near to receive opened up, and plays driven switch to opposite outside back.
Progressions:
Have the FB on the opposite side drop (skip pass) the ball back into 2nd CB for them to play the switch
