1V1 Skill Practice

Skill Practice - Pressure from behind


  • Set up groups of 3 players in each 10x20 space
  • 1 passer, 1 attacker, 1 defender (swap every 2 minutes)
  • The ball starts from the passer, who passes the ball into the attacker
  • Defender starts with pressure in the attackers back
  • As soon as the attacker recieves the ball, they can try dribble and score in one of the two goals (player cant shoot until they are in the zone)
  • The attacker has to deal with pressure from behind, while dribbling
  • Players swap every 2minutes
  • Create a game to see how many goals they can score in 2mins

Progression

Attacker can try score in the middle goal for extra points

Coach to call out what goal the player needs to score in

Coaching Points in possession
Scanning - Players to scan before receiving the ball
Movement - Movement to receive the ball ( Below, beside , beyond )
Receiving the ball In this drill, the attacker is receiving the ball with pressure from behind
- If pressure is high, eliminate with 1st touch, or protect
- If the pressure is low, 1st touch forward if there is space available
1 v1 Moves - Dribble with the ball to stay on the ball, or eliminate the defender
Release the ball - pass the ball into the mini goal

  • 1 passer, 1 attacker, 2 defender (swap every 2 minutes)
  • The ball starts from the passer, who passes the ball into the attacker
  • 1 of the defenders goes and puts pressure on the attackers side, sending the attacker 1 way
  • As soon as the attacker recieves the ball, they can try dribble and score in one of the two goals
  • The attacker has to deal with pressure from the side, while dribbling towards one of the goals
  • Players swap every 2minutes
  • Create a game to see how many goals they can score in 2mins

The coach to call out what goal the player needs to score in

Both Defenders can apply pressure to create a 1v2

Skill Practice - Pressure from the front


  • Set up groups of 2 players in each 10x10 space
  • 1 attacker, 1 defender (swap every 2 minutes)
  • The ball starts with the attacker who has to try dribble through one of the two gates
  • Defender must stop them from dribble and can block the gate with there body, defender cant cross to win the ball
  • As soon as the player gets through the gate they can try beat the player in a 1v1 to score a goal
  • Players swap every 2minutes
  • Create a game to see how many goals they can score in 2mins

Progression

Defender can now pressure past the gates and try win the ball, this starts with a pass from the defender to the attacker then game is live.
add a defender behind the attacker, they have 10seconds to try get through a gate or that defender starts applying pressure, trying to win the ball from behind
