Practice Objective:

SSG, 2v2+1 on side by side pitches, in a king of the court scenario. Lots of opportunities for 1v1 and 2v1 overloads utilising the joker.

Set Up

Practice Explanation:

Teams to play 2 minute rounds, with the objective being to win your game to remain on Pitch A. Losing team goes back down to pitch B. Winners of Pitch B get promoted to pitch A, losing team on pitch A gets relegated to pitch B.

Use +1 player if numbers are uneven or to avoid any team waiting on the sideline. If numbers are greater then add another pitch (C).

Lots of opportunity for 1v1 plays and decision making opportunities on when to utilise the +1 to create an overload
2 min games, 30 second changeover. 1 min rest every 3 games.

Coaching Points

Can the players showcase their 1v1 attacking skills - what tricks do they have? Step over, drag back, feint.
Body shape - attackers, can you deceive without touching the ball - Coutinho. Defenders - do we get down low and shepherd them away from goal
If playing with jokers - when do we use them? Decoy runs, 1-2’s, etc
