Specific Set Up

Coached Team - 3-5-2 - LWB (3), RWB (7), CB (5), CM (4&8), CAM (10), ST (9&11)

Managed Team - 3-5-2 - Mannequins representing back 3, wb's and cm's 


Mini goal in goal to act as GK. 


Ball always starts with 5. Who can then join in. 


Block 1 - Attacking final third centrally.

Block 2 - Attacking final third using false 9. 

Block 3 - Check understanding.

Block 1

Block 1 - Attacking final third centrally.


Roles & Responsibilities

3 - Stay wide to create space centrally. 

7 - Stay wide to create space centrally.

5 - Look to play into CM feet.

4 - Pull into the half space to receive. Either then play straight into 9 or 11 or look to combine with 10. 

8 - Pull into the half space to receive. Either then play straight into 9 or 11 or look to combine with 10.

10 - Drop into the space between CM's.

9 - Look to pull into the half space. Look to combine with 3 to then be spun in. 

11 - Pull into the half space and then run across back 3 to finish. 


What if - 10 cannot drop into the space between CM's. Then look to use wide players to then combine with 9&11 to spin in behind.

Block 2

Block 2 - Attacking final third using false 9.


Roles & Responsibilities

3 - Look to roll inside and to be played in by 11 to then cut back from by line. 

7 -Look to roll inside and to be played in by 11 to then cut back from by line.

5 - Play ball into CM's

4 - Move into half space to create space for 9 to drop into. 

8 - Look to play ball into 9 or 10. 

10 - Look to drop into the space between CM's

9 - Drop deeper to the CM's look to combine with 11 who will then roll in 3 or 7. Then look to make box to finish. 

11 - Look to move the ball wide once you receive it and then spin in behind to finish. 


What if - 9 cannot combine with 11. Then look to move the ball to 3 who can get in behind and cut the ball back. For 9,10,11 to make the box and finish.

Coached Team - 3-5-2 - GK (1), LWB (3), RWB (7), CB (5), CM (4&8), CAM (10), ST (9&11)

Managed Team - 3-5-2 - Less CAM and 1 ST.


Managed team to be direct when won the ball back and score quickly.

Block 1

Block 1 - Attacking centrally


Roles & Responsibilities

1 - Be high and always a backwards option. If under pressure look to hit wide. 

3 - Get high and wide to create space centrally for players. 

7 - Get high and wide to create space centrally for players.

5 - Pull into the half space to receive in space and create a headache for the ST on whether to stay or press. If he presses, either play straight into 4 or 8 or back to GK to then play in. 

4 - Look to occupy central channel and play quickly into 10.

8 -Look to occupy central channel and play quickly into 10.

10 - Drop into the space between DEF and MID to receive. 

9 - Occupy CB, look to pin and bounce the 10 to spin in behind. 

11 -Occupy CB, look to pin and bounce the 10 to spin in behind.


What if - If ST cannot play back into 10. 3 & 7 look to make a run into the space between WB and CB to be played in by 9 or 11.

Block 2

Block 2 - Attacking using width


Roles & Responsibilities

3 - Stretch the pitch and be as wide as possible to receive the ball and create pockets for midfielders to operate in. Get the ball to by line and cut ball across the box. 

7 - Get ready to make a back post run if ball is delivered. 

5 - Be a backwards option for the deepest lying midfielder. 

4 - Become deepest lying midfielder, and be the option to switch the ball. 

8 - Occupy pockets in the central channel. 

10 - Get in the half space to be the option to bounce 3 to get round the FB. 

9 - Occupy the widest CB in the half space in the attempt to create gaps for the 11 and 7 to make runs into. 

11 - 6 yard box run to finish the cross. 


What if - CB jumps out to create a 2v1 - 10 to drift further across to become a combination option. 9 will also be another option and could then look to play 8 who would then strike at goal.
