Scrimmage - 25 Minutes
Set Up:
Using Half the field, play a game. Normal FIFA rules apply.
Play in a 3-3-1 formation
Finish off with a competitive scrimmage highlighting the coaching point from pervious excercise.

Problem 1
Yellow team adopt a high press locking on to the cb's
Solution 1
CB's need to split the the edge on the 18 yard box and drop off between the 6yard box and penalty area. RB should mvove up and RCB split to width of the pitch to create space for Midfield to drop in to recieve a pass from the gk
Progression:
- Add another player on the blue team making for a greater challenge until its a full 5v5 among players

Problem 2
-Blue team is now defending in a block which turns to a press eventually
Solution:
- Movement is more crucial with a team defending in a block
- Like the press, be patient and play what is available to you.
- Be arware and watchout for triggers indicating they are moving from a block to a press
- At this point, look to play quickly either through them or over top.
Progression:
- Add another player on the blue team making for a greater challenge until its a full 5v5 among players

Duration 20 Minutes
Set Up:
(30*25 grid) 3 teams of 2 players with 1 neutral.
Instructions:
2 teams play inside area with one team used as target players.
1 team is attacking while the other is deffending. Ones team uses combination play as often as possible trying to tranfer the 6 balls to the other side as fast as they can. Use the third person to your advantage. After the 6 balles have been transfered, repeat from other side.
When the defending team wins the ball, it becomes a 3v2 against the defenders while they try to keep the ball for as long as they can.
*This can be done with a 2v1 sitiation keeping everything the same.
Progression
When the ball is played to the opposite target player, play continues and attempt to go to the other side.

Immidiate support (pass & move)

Player awareness on the ball
Move the ball quickly, looking for the spare player

Always be available when in possession
Out of possession stay tight to opposition, communicate with team mate

8 v 8 Game: Defending as a Team (20 mins)
Set-Up: Field is 70yds long x 50yds wide with a half-way line and 2 goals at either end. Two equal teams, with 2 GK's. Balls distributed beside goal to keep the game flowing when balls go out of play.
Instructions: Play 8 v 8 with offside in effect. Re-start from the GK when a goal is scored or ball goes out of play.
