Football/Soccer Session (Difficult): Defensive Structure in a 4-4-2 Part 2

Lead-in Practice (25 mins)

Defending as a 4 Unit Practice.

Blue 4 - Back Line or Midfield Line

Red 4s - Opposition

Yellows - Strikers

Blacks - Coaches and spare player

Reds are trying to play through the blue line to the opposite side. Wide red players (locked into zones) are on minimum 2 touch (cannot play first time) and can score a point by hitting a diagonal pass to the coach across from them. Yellow strikers can help Red team by their movement and link up.

If Blue team win the ball they can score in any of the 4 goals (use cones if no mini goals) Yellow strikers must try to stop Blue Team scoring.

Start with Blues not tackling, just intercepting and blocking. Progress to tackling on a trigger (poor touch from a red)

Game (20 mins)

High Intensity as last week. Ball goes out and coaches (green) immediately play a new ball in.

Red Team 2-3-2
